MoneyBook: Family Finances

New to MoneyBook? The MoneyBook Guide walks through setting it up and every feature, with screenshots.

Need help with MoneyBook: Family Finances on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch? Email [email protected], or send an iMessage to the same address. Tell us which device you're using and what happened, and we'll get back to you.

In MoneyBook, Settings → Support has Email Support and Message Us. On Apple Watch, use Message Us.

Email Support attaches technical details that help us find the problem: a diagnostics report, the app's recent log, and any crash reports. They never include your amounts, notes or names, and you can see them in the email before sending.

If Siri got an expense wrong, choose Include when Email Support asks about your recent Siri expenses. That adds what you said and what MoneyBook read, so we can see what went wrong. Clear Siri History in Settings deletes them from your device.

Syncing across your devices

MoneyBook syncs through your own iCloud account, so there's nothing to sign up for. Sign in to iCloud with the same Apple Account on each device. If your data isn't showing up, check that you're signed in and online, and that your iCloud storage isn't full. MoneyBook tells you when iCloud is unavailable or full.

Sharing a profile with your family

  1. On the profile's owner's iPhone, show the profile's QR code, or send its invite link with Share Invite Link.
  2. The other person taps the link, and MoneyBook opens and asks them to confirm. They can also go to Settings → Join a Profile and scan the code or paste the link.
  3. The owner approves the request as Can Edit or View Only. Access can be changed, or the person removed, at any time.

Sharing needs iCloud on both sides. A profile someone shares with you appears under Shared With Me, and you can leave it whenever you like.

MoneyBook Plus

Your first month is free, with no payment details needed. After your free month you can still see everything, but adding and changing things needs MoneyBook Plus: monthly, yearly or a one-time lifetime purchase. MoneyBook Plus supports Family Sharing.

Purchases belong to your Apple Account, so they come back on any device signed in with it. To change or cancel a subscription, use Manage Subscription in MoneyBook's Settings, or your App Store account settings.

Adding expenses with Siri

Say "Add expense in MoneyBook" to Siri and describe what you spent in your own words. MoneyBook fills in the amount, category and account and asks about anything it's missing. If none of your categories fits, it can suggest a new one.

To go step by step instead, say "Add expense manually in MoneyBook". Siri asks for the amount, the category, the account and, if you want one, a comment. Nothing is read by Apple Intelligence, so it works on any device that runs MoneyBook.

Settings → Quick Logging lists both, opens them in the Shortcuts app, and offers Log Expense by Voice, a ready-made shortcut that starts listening right away. Run any of them from the Action Button, a Home Screen widget or Back Tap.

Reading the sentence uses Apple Intelligence's Private Cloud Compute, so it needs a device with Apple Intelligence turned on and an internet connection. Without them, Siri asks for the amount, account and category one at a time, or use "Add expense manually in MoneyBook".

Apple Watch and widgets

The Apple Watch app syncs with iCloud on its own, so you can check balances and add transactions without your iPhone nearby. Widgets for Net Worth, Cash Flow, Expenses and Income, Savings and Wealth can be added to your Home Screen, Lock Screen, Mac desktop or watch face. Touch and hold a widget and choose Edit Widget to pick what it shows. Widgets show the profile that's selected in MoneyBook.

Your data and privacy

MoneyBook never asks for your bank login, and we can't see your data. Read the MoneyBook Privacy Policy for details, including how to delete your data.
